El dia Sábado, 15 de Agosto el vibrafonista Gustavo Agatiello conducirá una master class en Buenos Aires, Capital Federal. Habrá también disponibilidad limitada para clases privadas.

La master class está abierta a vibrafonistas, marimbistas y percusionistas de todos los niveles, como asi tambien a compositores y otros instrumentistas.

Durante la master class se tratarán aspectos técnicos basicos y avanzados sobre la ejecución del vibráfono ("fulcrum grip", uso del pedal y apagadores, stickings, uso de 4 baquetas), "vibrafono solo" (doble función, "jabs" y otras técnicas de acompañamiento de la mano izquierda, división de corcheas, lineas de contorno armónico, contrapunto), acompañamiento ("voicings" cerrados y abiertos, clusters, "stacking", "inner moving voices"), teoría de jazz e improvisación (armonía, tensiones, "chord scales", principios armónicos, análisis armónico y de "chord scales"), improvisación (conceptos generales de adorno ritmico y melodico, fraseo, articulación, dinámicas, compatibilidad estilistica, conceptos rîtmicos, melodicos y armónicos)

El rosarino Gustavo Agatiello visitará el país después de veinte años de ausencia. Actualmente reside en Boston, EEUU, donde se desempeña como docente en la prestigiosa Berklee College of Music a la par de los vibrafonistas Ed Saindon y Dave Samuels. Allí Gustavo dicta clases privadas de vibrafono, ensambles, laboratorios de "mallets" (vibrafono y marimba) y piano básico.

Gustavo ha dirigido clinicas en EEUU, Europa y Asia. Desarrolla su actividad de musico en la vibrante escena musical de Boston, NYC y del noreste estadounidense y se presenta frecuentemente en escenarios de Europa y Asia.

Vibist Gustavo Agatiello at the Taipei International Percussion Festival

Vic Firth artist Gustavo Agatiello will be performing and teaching clinics on vibraphone and improvisation at the Taipei International Percussion Festival held at the National University of the Arts of Taipei, Taiwan from July 17th to the 26th.

I've played this gig at Kendall Square every summer for the past six or seven years. I normally perform six times throughout the months of June, July and August. I set up the vibraphone in the square under the trees and next to the benches. It's a very pleasant and relaxing place considering we are in a city. The square is surrounded by office buildings, hotels, university campuses, etc., so some people came out to their lunch break, others pass by while I'm right there, playing. Because of the casual nature of the gig, I use it as an oportunity to practice. I might play some classical pieces I'm working on, some jazz tunes and perhaps things totally made up there and then. In other words, I play whatever inspires me at that time. On rare occasions I might invite a friend to come out and play with me.
If you ever like to come down and check it out Kendall Square is in the City of Cambridge, accross the river from Boston and is easily reached by public transport, more precisely with the red line.
